POISON HEMLOCK IN LEWIS COUNTY
Local Fire/EMS and Law Enforcement agencies
are encouraging local residents to consider water
safety this weekend as the weather improves and
air temperatures rise. River and local lake temps
are still very cold, and can cause hypothermia.
Winter waters change shorelines - limbs and logs
create new underwater hazards.
Authorities ask that you consider the use of
Personal Flotation Devices. In conjunction with
Seattle Children s Hospital, Coupons for reduced
prices on PFD s are available by clicking here.
PFD s are required for all children under the age
of 12 on boats 19 feet or shorter.
Children should be closely
supervised by an adult at all
times while swimming and
near waterways. A Centers for
Disease Control article online
by clicking here outlines
specific ways families can
address drowning risks.
