Assistant Chief of Operations & Training - Opening August 1

 

Riverside Fire Authority is seeking a passionate, experienced, and forward-thinking fire service leader to serve as Assistant Chief of Operations & Training. This confidential, non-union management position provides leadership and oversight for the Authority’s Operations and Training sections and plays a key role in emergency response, personnel development, operational readiness, and organizational planning.

The position reports directly to the Fire Chief and is responsible for supervising assigned personnel, managing Authority programs, supporting emergency operations, and ensuring training programs align with Authority goals and objectives. This position may assume command of the Authority in accordance with policy and operating guidelines and may fulfill the responsibilities of the Fire Chief on an interim basis when needed.

The position is supported by program coordinators to assist with the development and delivery of programmatic goals and project work items, including career, volunteer and volunteer academy training coordinators; fleet & equipment, safety, PPE and wildland operational coordinators; and volunteer recruitment/retention, resident firefighter and support services volunteer coordinators. 

The position is an integral part of the Riverside Fire Authority Administrative Team - consisting of the Fire Chief, Assistant Chief of Operations & Training, Assistant Chief of Prevention, Division Chief of EMS, Board Secretary, Finance Officer, Outreach Coordinator and P/T Admin Assistant.
